BIG boy bed

Funny story, I babysit my cute little niece and nephew Saige and Milo every Thursday. Well, for the past 2 years I have been very lucky that Coast has never attempted to climb out of his crib. I think he saw Milo climb into his crib one morning and soon thought "oh, so thats how its done!"
It was really cold in the house that particular morning, so I turned the fire on and sat on the hearth waiting for the kids to arrive. All of the sudden I heard this door open and slam shut, and thought "why are the people upstairs coming down into our basement apt?" Well, 2 seconds later I heard Coast stomping his feet down the hall with this smirky little smile on his frowny little face (if that makes sense) saying "MOM!" I couldnt help but just laugh, even though I knew this was the start of some very long nights ahead of me! So I held out my arms and he climbed in. I asked him if he "FELL" out of his bed and he said "ya", then I asked him if he was hurt and he said "ya", I asked him where and he pointed to his neck, so I kissed it and then asked if he was ok and he said "ya!"
It was so funny because my sneaky little 2 year old wanted me to think that he somehow fell out of his bed so I wouldnt get mad at him for "CLIMBING" out! Needless to say nap time that day was impossible, he wanted nothing to do with his bed.
For bedtime that night we lowered the mattress so it was completely on the floor, and the little stink was still able to climb out.... So Friday night we spent the evening with our dear friends Eric and Ashley, putting together his "BIG boy bed! Lucky for us he LOVED his bed and has been excited about it since the first night we put it up! Dont get me wrong, the first couple of weeks were miserable for Nate and I, we think he finally felt freedom to get in and out of bed as he pleased, and got up and out of bed EVERY hour during the night! WORSE than a new born baby!
This nearly killed me, but we finally had to switch door knobs with ours and stick the lock on the outside of his door so he couldnt get out of his room. Works like a dream, now he knows its time for bed and doesnt ever whine or complain, its lovely!
Once he gets used to not falling out (which he has yet to do) I am turning his bed around so the head of the bed is centered onto the cloud wall. Now all I have to do is finish buying all the bedding and accessories for his new twin bed! Oh he is growing up so fast!!
